It usually happens around the three-month point in a new country, when the glow of being somewhere new wears off a bit but you haven’t got close friends yet. I have recently moved to London from Australia, when I first got here I was so excited to be in the Uk that I did not give a second thought to being away from home, then I went travelling with a friend all around europe for 4 weeks.. it is only now that i am back in ondon that I feel incredibly homesick.. so much so that I actually feel nauseated! The frustrating thing is that I knwow it will pass… but im just waiting for that to happen.
Hang in there Claire, we all go through it at some point, especially at this time of year! What kept me going when I was homesick was thinking through rationally how things would be if I went home early, and the reality wasn’t as appealing as the new place I was in. Good luck!
